Dairy worker injured in animal attack awarded payout
A former dairy worker who suffered serious injuries after being attacked by a cow has received compensation of £60,000 from the farm that employed him.
Brian Clemens inadvertently stepped in front of a cow which had been separated from its calf while working at a dairy in September 2004.
The distressed animal subsequently charged at the 49-year-old, catapulting him into the air.
He landed heavily on his right hip and shoulder and, as a result of the damage he sustained, was unable to continue working at the farm.
Mr Clemens stated: "It was absolutely terrifying. I thought I might lose my life," the Sun reports.
He added: "It was a preventable accident but it left me unable to do my job and I lost my home, which was a tie-in of working at the farm."
The former farm worker has now regained 80 per cent mobility and runs a shop in the Cornish former mining town of St Just.
