Nurse receives compensation after pothole causes injury
A nursery nurse has been awarded a payout after a pothole caused her to suffer an injury.
Fiona Denial was awarded compensation of £3,750 in an out of court settlement with Osborne House Community Nursery, which is situated on Minto Road in the Hillsborough area of Sheffield.
The 24-year-old had been walking across the car park of the nursery when she fell down the pothole, the Sheffield Telegraph reports.
She sustained soft tissue damage as a result and could not walk for two weeks.
Ms Denial claimed that it took six weeks for the swelling to go down and she continued to suffer stiffness for many weeks after that.
She stated: "Quite frankly it was an accident waiting to happen. I just hope now that the holes can be filled in so that other people don't go through the same pain as I did."
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the nursery confirmed that the potholes had been levelled since the accident.
