Woman in line for compensation following hospital mistakes
A nurse is set to receive a payout after a hospital made mistakes over the diagnosis of her breast cancer.
Ann Morris went for a mammogram at a mobile breast-screening unit in the Tesco car park in Newmarket and, after hearing nothing back from the staff operating the service, assumed she had been given the all clear.
However, two years later, the mother of two went to her doctor concerned over a lump in her breast, the Hunts Post reports.
She was subsequently diagnosed with cancer in both her breast and her lymph nodes.
Ms Morris also learned that the mammogram she had undergone previously revealed she had early cancer.
The 57-year-old has now been given between six months and four-and-a-half years to live.
As a result of taking legal action, she will receive an undisclosed payment from Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.
According to Cancer Research UK, one in nine women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lives.

I have been very impressed by your prompt and efficient service so far. The call handler took time to listen and was very helpful. I couldn't fault him. He was pleasant, friendly and polite.
