Burns and scarring victim seeks more compensation

A man who suffered severe burns and scarring during an accident at work is pursuing a satisfactory personal injury compensation settlement.

According to the Aberdeen Press & Journal, Clark Longmuir sustained 20 per cent burns to his eyes, face, left leg and hands during an incident in an offshore oil rig in the East Timor Sea in July 2006.

Mr Longmuir subsequently had to be airlifted to hospital, where he was put in an induced coma for a period of two weeks and he also suffered a stroke at this time.

His employer - Maersk Drilling, which was established in 1972 and now operates all around the world - offered him a damages settlement in 2010 for his ordeal, but this has now been rejected as Mr Longmuir told the news source it was "far too low".

"I just want a better offer from them and then I can get on with my life," he added.
