Pupil awarded £6k after accident at school

Personal injury compensation of more than £6,000 has been awarded to a school pupil in Newcastle after an instance of slipping and tripping.

That is according to figures giving details of damages payments in the education system in the north-east of England, which have revealed that more than £200,000 has been handed over by institutions in total in recent times, Chronicle Live reports.

For instance, £11,534 was awarded to a child who suffered facial injuries after being hit with a bat, while in excess of £7,000 was granted to an individual who cut their foot on a tile.

Teachers also claimed more than £80,000 in compensation after slipping and tripping, with stress at work also being the cause of one successful claim.

Recently, schoolboy Jack Sutton was awarded £54,000 in damages after he sustained a serious knee injury while playing for the under-17 team at Syston Rugby Club in Leicestershire.
