Scout awarded personal injury compensation

Personal injury compensation has been awarded to a scout after he was hurt during an incident in a public place.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the 11-year-old boy was left with an injured arm and a bloody nose when he was "spear tackled" by adult troop leader Jon Ingram during a game.

Witnesses to the incident stated that the 52-year-old - a businessman by profession who is no longer a scout official - acted dangerously and they were shocked by the way he went about the game.

The boy's legal representative observed: "The victim's mother witnessed the flying tackle and others present were stunned at what they saw."

He went on to say that it was fortunate the youngster's arm had not been broken in the incident, meaning he suffered no permanent harm.

Following an investigation by the Gloucestershire Child Abuse Investigation Team, Mr Ingram was ordered to pay damages of £250 to the boy.
