Stress at work 'can lead to physical health issues'

Physical health problems can emerge if an individual regularly feels under pressure due to the effects of stress at work.

That is according to chartered psychologist and founder of Mind Health Development Dr Rick Norris, who believes mental anguish can quickly translate into physical illness if it goes untreated.

Dr Norris, who is also the author of Think Yourself Happy, stated there is "no doubt" that the two things are "closely linked", meaning that anyone struggling with anxiety due to their profession should be careful.

In the aftermath of the recession, stress at work has understandably become a more prevalent issue across the country and Dr Norris warned that without action, this can cause ailments such as "cardio-vascular disease, skin disorders, stomach problems and even cancer".

This comes after John Telfer of Inspiring Business Performance urged managers to be proactive in their attempts to deal with stress among their employees.
