Farm accident to lead to damages claim 2361

Multiple broken bones sustained during an accident at work could lead to an agricultural employee pursuing personal injury compensation.

Colin Jenkin suffered seven fractured ribs, as well as permanent damage to his eye socket and crush injuries to his back, when he was run over by a tractor at premises in Helston owned by FH Benney & Sons in September 2010.

Mr Jenkin was spreading manure on a field at the farm when he got out to open a gate and the vehicle rolled forwards into him due to a faulty handbrake.

The 55-year-old has subsequently been unable to return to his job since the incident and an investigation by the Health and Safety Executive established his employer's negligence meant the tractor had not been properly maintained.

Recently, Martin Mundie sustained fractures to his arm and wrist during an accident at a farm in Aberdeenshire while working for Joseph Adams.
