Leeds man gets £10k for hand injury

A Leeds man who suffered a hand injury in an accident at work has settled his compensation claim against his employers for in excess of £10,000.

Craig Dunwell required an operation on his arm after he suffered nerve damage due to a deep cut on his right hand, the Yorkshire Post reports.

He had been fitting a flue at a school in Leeds and his employer Fluestax - which has over 50 years' experience in the industry - failed to notify him there was a sharp edge on it.

Mr Dunwell required three weeks off work following the incident and he still has problems working with his hands.

"My injury means that I find it difficult to use my finger. I have learnt to cope but by the end of a working day it's numb," he added.

The worker added he was happy that his union, GMB, provided him with so much help.
