Woman awarded £9k compensation after accident at work

A woman who sustained health issues such as a back injury during an accident at work has been awarded a personal injury compensation settlement of £9,600.

According to STV, Elizabeth McLachan fell from a ladder while lifting an item from a shelf at a Glasgow branch of the Early Learning Centre - a retailer which was established in 1974 and now has more than 200 standalone stores in the UK - in October 2007.

This incident caused Ms McLachan, who was 37 years old at the time, to go to a local accident and emergency department where she was diagnosed with soft tissue damage to her lower back, elbow and calf, the news source went on to state.

She then launched a claim for damages against her former employers after alleging that the ladder she was provided with was faulty and the company admitted liability for the accident by accepting it had breached health and safety regulations.
