Pub assault man ordered to pay compensation

A man has been ordered to pay compensation after attacking a member of a pipe band in a pub in Scotland.

Steven Robertson had been performing with the Royal Scots Association Pipe Band in June last year when he was assaulted by Michael McGee, 36, who was given a deferred sentence, as well as being ordered to pay £1,500 in compensation, reports STV.

Fiscal depute John Kirk explained a disagreement had begun between Mr Robertson and Mr McGee, the latter of whom had entered the Horseshoe Bar - which is located in the Leith area of the city - with a group of friends.

"That's when matters kicked off. A disturbance took place and the complainer ran out [of] the door chased by the accused," he said.

Mr Robertson - who suffered fractured ribs in the incident - was then hit on the back by a bar stool thrown by Mr McGee, who then kneed the victim in the chest.
