Arm injury may lead to compensation claim

Arm injury may lead to compensation claim 2393

Personal injury compensation could be sought by a professional who suffered a serious arm injury during an accident at work.

Paul Murdoch was operating a circular ripsaw in order to cut walnut boards for his employer Weldon Contracts at their premises in Nottinghamshire in September 2009 and was injured when a section of the wood broke off and punctured his arm.

Mr Murdoch required hospital treatment following the incident and an investigation launched by the Health and Safety Executive established that Weldon had failed to re-install a safety guard on the equipment that had been removed for another job the day before.

The firm subsequently admitted breaching the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, meaning Mr Murdoch may seek damages for his ordeal.

Recently, cleaner Richard Beane sustained a crushed hand when his arm got caught in a piece of machinery during an accident at work while operating for SGA House Services in East Anglia.
