Family pursuing food poisoning damages

Compensation is being sought by a family who were struck down with food poisoning while on holiday in the Caribbean.

According to the Doncaster Free Press, the Edwards family from Wheatley Hills all suffered with serious illness during their vacation at the four-star Grand Oasis Hotel in the Dominican Republic and are still feeling the effects some three years later.

Married couple Michael and Linzie Edwards took their son Zak - who, at the time, was just six-months-old - to the tropical destination along with Mrs Edwards' brother and his wife in a deal with tour operator Thomas Cook.

The group were hoping to enjoy the holiday of a lifetime but Mr Edwards fell ill shortly after arriving there and told the news source this was due to the undercooked meat present in the hotel restaurant and sewage flooding their room.

"I spent almost all my holiday in bed. It was awful ... I'm absolutely disgusted with Thomas Cook," he added.
