Bricklayer to pursue compensation after accident 2555

Broken bones suffered during an accident at work may result in a bricklayer pursuing personal injury compensation.

The unnamed 48-year-old man sustained several fractured ribs, severe bruising to his legs and face and a serious puncture wound in his back when he was crushed on a conveyor belt while working for Wienerberger in Hartlebury in October 2009.

At the time of the incident, the professional was attempting to fix a problem on the production line of the factory of the multinational firm - which is the world's largest producer of bricks - that had caused the belt to stop moving.

After he climbed onto the line, it restarted unexpectedly, leading to a pallet lifter to fall on top of him.

He was subsequently off work for six weeks and may now decide to seek compensation after Wienerberger admitted breaking health and safety regulations in a case heard at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court.
