Shopper awarded £3.7k damages for broken ankle

Compensation of £3,700 has been awarded to a woman who broke her ankle during an accident in a public place.

According to the Leicester Mercury, the unnamed female was injured when she fell over on the bridge between the car park and the John Lewis store at Leicester's Highcross shopping centre last year.

Meanwhile, a further three claims for damages have also now been started against the mall after similar incidents in its car park.

For instance, one individual known as Mrs Ravat alleges she slipped over in December 2011 as she approached her car and sustained a fractured femur due to the impact of her fall.

A spokesman for Highcross told the news source that while it would be "inappropriate" to comment on individual cases, a review into why these accidents occurred has been completed.

"We are investigating a number of ways to resolve the situation," the official added.
