Widow appeals for help in industrial disease claim

A widow has appealed for the former colleagues of her husband to come forward to assist her industrial disease claim.

According to Herald Scotland, Jane Burns is determined to battle for justice on behalf of her spouse Robert, who passed away at the age of 75 in September 2010 from mesothelioma.

It is believed Mr Burns - who worked as a university laboratory research technician - came into contact with asbestos regularly at several institutions he was employed by in the early 1950s.

Part of his duties involved making equipment for student research projects and he worked at the University of St Andrews between 1951 and 1955, before then moving on to Dundee's Queens College from 1957 to 1961.

He then operated at both the Gatty Marine Research Laboratories and the University of Aston until 1984.

As such, Mrs Burns has appealed to anyone with information about where exactly her husband was exposed to the lethal material to come forward.
